The Legacy of Excellence

When Edward Vom Hofe created his fly reels, I am sure that he would never of believed that these would still be held in such high regard by tackle manufacturers over 140 years since they made their first appearance.

Characterised by ebonite side plates bound in German (nickel) Silver, and that wonderful Serpentine "S" crank handle, twin rollers, and optional on / off check buttons.

Earlier examples have the tension adjuster on the front with later examples this are located on the rear. Otto Zwarg took over from Vom Hofe with the example on the right, above.

And the legacy with this style of reel copied by many over the last 140 years including Hardy with the Cascapedia, Stan Bogdan, Bo Mohlin, Winston, Saracione, Loop, Bellinger, etc...
