Westley Richards, a fine gun and tackle manufacturer from Birmingham, produced these fine spinning reels, the "Rolo" and this highly practical lure boxes, designed to accommodate Devon minnow.

The "Rolo" comes complete with a spare spool and spindle which are neatly accommodated in this reel case, produced by Richard Wheatley, another Birmingham maker.

The box contains sliding bars to hold the Devons in place.

The reel is stamped to the inside with a familiar "D" being the very distinguishing marked of Walter Dingley, a master reel maker who learnt his craft at Hardy Brothers, Alnwick, before embarking on his own career at the beginning of the 20th Century.
