This 4" J Bernard & Son of 45 Jermyn Street, "Patent Brake" Salmon reel, made by master reel maker, David Slater, with corresponding leather "D" case is coming up for 100 years old. It still looks as fresh as the day the original owner picked this reel and case.
The reel can be dated from 1903-1926, and is presented in outstanding original condition.
With white handle, constant smooth check and a "patent brake" mounted on the rim.
This was operated by apply pressure on the silver button which pressed up against the spool and was there to compliment the already strong fixed check mechanism.
And great to see this with its correct leather "D" reel case with the retailer's details stamped to inside.
