Forrest of Kelso Reservoir

John Forrest was a well regarded fly tier and fishing tackle retailer dating from the late Victorian period. Producing rods, reels, Salmon, Sea Trout and Trout flies and an array of fly boxes and cases to hold your many patterns, including this fine, 5 x tray reservoir, finished in black japanned with cream painted trays bearing nickel silver leaf springs to accommodate Salmon flies.

Each tray details a numbers on an end plate, depicting the size of the flies that the trays can accommodate. Larger flies for heavy or early season water and small patterns for late spring and summer fishing.

Forrest produced a number of these style of reservoirs to accommodate 5, 10 and 15 sliding trays.

Note the lozenge to the front of the reservoir, by the handle, detailing their Oxford Street, London, retail outlet. Box dates from the 1910 to 1920 period.
